Esther Kaufmann ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin des Instituts für Bildungsmanagement und Bildungsökonomie (IBB) der Pädagogischen Hochschule Zug (PHZ), Schweiz.
Esther Kaufmann studierte zunächst Psychologie an der Universität
Zürich mit dem Schwerpunkt Entwicklungspsychologie, Kinder- und Jugendpsychopathologie sowie Neurophysiologie. Durch ein halbjähriges Praktikum am SPD Horw bei Dr. Räz erhielt Esther Kaufmann einen praktischen Einblick in das Schweizerische Schulsystem.
Von 2007 bis 2009 war Esther Kaufmann Stipendiatin der Graduierten Schule für Economics and Social Sciences (CDSS) an der Universität Mannheim sowie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl Diagnostik, Evaluation und Forschungsmethoden bei Prof. W. W. Wittmann.
2009 schloss Esther Kaufmann ihre Dissertation zur Evaluationsforschung: Flesh on the bones: A critical meta-analytic perspective of achievement lens studies, ab. In dieser Arbeit ist zentral, dass bei der Messung der Urteilsgenauigkeit – von Lehrpersonen, Ärzten, etc. – immer auch Artefakte einfliessen und zu ungenauen Messungen führen können. Mittels des Hunter-Schmidt-Ansatzes wurden diese Artefakte korrigiert und eine artefakt-korrgierte Urteilsgenauigkeit präsentiert.
Esther Kaufmann interessiert sich auch auf dem Gebiet der Online Forschung genaue Messungen durchzuführen zu können und somit für die Erfassung der Sozialen Erwünschtheit (siehe Kaufmann & Reips, 2008).
